Opinions on beginning of my short story please? (easy 10pts)?
"So I think I might know what you’re after."

She stood five foot five but flung her black shadow over the mountains so her fingers manipulated the wind but it would still blow through her cobweb hair and stick over her cheeks and your fingers could never peel it all off.

Her natural stance is with her bony hand over her bony hip, eyes seeping through her makeup mask. Sweet, sticky molasses eyes that make you throb with fantasies of damsels flying from danger with white knights. But she stood bony hand on bony hip.

And she doesn’t like to tell people her name. It’s Eleanore. Her foundation wrinkles up with her grin smirk and stays there when her friends called her Ella. Eleanore is smooth; your fingers leaving a trail of goosebumps down her back in the winter.

You pull in closer to her and choke on the fog sliding down your throat.

"My grandpa’s house, the one over there, someone told you about it?" She flung her hair over her shoulder and the frizzy ends crackled against eachother. "And you think I’ll just run off with you and we can live there and you can rule over me for happily ever after."

She laughed and coughed, filling up the mountains with her rough vanilla extract breath. When she was younger she tried to get drunk off of it. It never worked but her purse still chimed from tiny vanilla extract bottles and the people in town laughed and recited the story with their hands waving in the wind every time she walked by. You would politely laugh and coax more stories out of their vein rippled necks. The people of New Whisconier would huff and look over their shoulders only to then fill you with their folk songs of the great Eleanor for three pulsing hours.

You had known about the house for a month now, but you’d met her far before that. What you want is to crack through that round moth shell of hers and squeeze out Eleanore. Distill her shade until you get to the extract you can bottle up and coddle in the empty safe of your house.

It was hard to take in. It feels like you’re trying to hard. Sometimes less is more.

It’s jumping all over the place and that makes it hard to follow. Some of the descriptive details are completely unnecessary. LIke this line :

"so her fingers manipulated the wind but it would still blow through her cobweb hair and stick over her cheeks and your fingers could never peel it all off."

That just doesn’t really make sense or add anything to the story.

It seems kinda pointless and nothing much is really going on. Your endulged into this character that I feel no emotion for. Some of the discriptions are good though the part of the vanilla extract reminds me of what I used to do when I was young how we try these things. I would rather like to read a part where something is actually going on but anyway don’t give up.

I get a clear picture of what you’re trying to describe, which is fantastic, except I get pulled out of that world because your sentences are too long and/or incorrectly punctuated. Edit out the words you don’t need, and I think it’ll be much better. You don’t need to over-describe; like the first answerer put it: Less is more.

It does seem like you’re trying too hard. It would be a good plot, if you used less adjectives and talked about someone else besides Ella. Try to tone it done a bit.

Anyone read "The Last Song"?
By Nicolas Sparks ? I did, and I loved it but now I’m kind of disappointed that Miley Cyrus is playing Ronnie in the upcoming movie. I just don’t know what to expect out of her, since I’m used to her whole Hannah Montana routine.

Thoughts and Opinions ? (On both the book and upcoming film)
I know Miley herself chose the name Ronnie for the main character, but I still don’t know about her acting the part.
I’m probably just disappointed because I read the book before I even know it was going to be a movie .. haha : ) Maybe she’ll be good !

I read the book only after I had seen the trailer for the movie, so the whole time I was reading I pictured Miley as Ronnie. It doesn’t really bother me that’s she’s playing Ronnie. I’ve heard she actually played the part quite well.

Two guys after me, they're good friends with each other! I don't want to ruin their friendship over me! HELP?
In September, my best friend Sakura, told me to join Cadets, I did that, joined and finally met my online friend, Harry. I was shocked how I met him at Cadets! I met him last year, through another friend, we started talking and I got to know him, we added each other on facebook and I was bored and NOT STALKING HIM and looked through his photos. I saw his friend Calvin and I thought he was really cute. I didn’t like him really, cause I didn’t know him, but next thing you know, I met Calvin and Harry at Cadets. Harry and I are close friend, and Harry mention me to Calvin before. Next thing you know. Calvin likes me and I don’t like him cause it’s been a year. Calvin and I started to hang out.

The first time we hung out, he treated me like I was his girlfriend! I didn’t know what to do, but I didn’t make any moves. Calvin was really nice to me though~ nothing bad.

In October, I found out my friend Jeffery that was in my Psychology class was in cadets too. I was shocked because I’ve been in Cadets for a month and I didn’t notice him. The first time I saw him, I thought he was cute, and then one day in Psychology I talked to him, and he was so mean to me! >_< But then he explained why, so I forgave him.

The second week of October, Calvin confessed to me, I didn’t know what to say, so I said I’ll get back to you. The last week of October, I found out that we were having a Cadet Dance 17th of November.

I was surprised how Calvin didn’t ask me, so I asked Jeffery to be my date and he said yes.
We got our own ride there, and we wanted to surprise people when we got there, Jeffery got there before me. As soon as I walked in the door, I saw Calvin and Jeffery, Calvin was so happy he saw me and Jeffery, well he was my date, and Calvin didn’t know till Jeffery and I walked in the dance room together. Since it was a cadet dance, there was no grinding at all. Jeffery and I had fun dancing! A few slow songs came on and we slow danced. I didn’t notice Calvin was there, and not dancing. He didn’t dance at all during the dance! I was wearing heels that day, and my feet were hurting after 45 minutes, so Jeffery and I went and sat down and talked to Vivian. Vivian asked if we were dating. I said I don’t know, ask Jeffery. Jeffery was like, sure. I was shocked myself when he said that. I thought Jeffery was joking, and thank god he was. But then he confessed to me. Jeffery and I went back dancing after a 10-20 minute break.

Calvin was still not dancing at fast or slow songs, until the very last slow song, Vivian told Calvin to dance with me and he did. I was dancing with Calvin and then I found out that Jeffery didn’t dance with anyone >_< I felt so bad! Jeffery was my bad! When Jeffery confessed to me, I though of how he was cute when I first saw him.

After the slow song, Jeffery and I didn’t dance anymore. It was so awkward, because both of us knew that Calvin likes me. Calvin on the other hand, doesn’t know that Jeffery likes me. Close to the end of the dance, Jeffery, Calvin and I just stood there doing nothing, and it was VERY awkward, so I just started random convos.

When the dance was over, my feet WERE KILLING ME! Jeffery asked if I was okay and was so sweet to me that night. Calvin on the other hand didn’t ask because Jeffery already asked.

Wednesday I didn’t see Jeffery, and I didn’t have any classes with him ( I have liner classes) When I got home, Jeffery wasn’t on, but Calvin was. Calvin asked how was my day and everything and then he said that he misses me~ :\ As soon as he said that, I guess, the feeling of me liking him came back? But I wasn’t sure…

A few minutes later, Jeffery went on. I was happy! =D cause I didn’t see or talk to Jeffery at all that day.

On Thursday, Jeffery and I had class in the morning, we talked and talk at lunch too, I asked him if he really liked me, and he said yes. I was really happy that he likes me cause I had feelings for him too!

After school, Calvin came. We hung out for almost 2 hours. Before he left, we hugged and he wouldn’t let go of me. I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t know if I had feelings for him like I did for Jeffery.

I need help. I don’t know what to do! Do I like Calvin? Do I like Jeffery more? I DO NOT want to do any two timing! It’s so hard going through this! Calvin said he’s going to try and transfer to my school now. I’m so scared.

Jeffery never fell in love, so never had a gf. Same with me. I never had a bf before.

Calvin has a lot of female friends and lot of them are after him. Calvin knows how to love and he openly expresses it.

Jeffery can be sarcastic, and doesn’t really show his love, but he can be depended on to tell the truth.

and Calvin, it is hard to tell if he is being truthful when all he says are romantic things
