Pearl Harbor (2001) IMDB rating: 5.30 Plot: The above summaries do a great job of describing the dynamics of the love triangle that develops between the two pilots that fall in love with the same nurse. The movie also does a credible job of displaying the war from the American side with FDR and our side. It also shows the strategy of Japan as they plan for and execute all facets of the attack on Pearl Harbor. While all details may not be historically correct, I believe that they do the job well - all things considered. Historic events that were altered were probably done so in an attempt to also make this movie the entertaining epic that it is.

What if the USSR or USA had not joined WW2?
When the Japanese bombed pearl harbor they brought the United States into the war, when Germany invaded the USSR the soviets joined but my question is what if one (or both) of these sides hasn’t joined? The way I see it if Germany doesn’t invade Russia but America joins the war:
The United States attempt to liberate Nazi territory (along with support from the allies), if they don’t succeed they deploy the bomb on German citizens to try to force them into submission and the allies eventually win.

If Germany invades USSR but America doesn’t get involved:
Germany with support from allies of Japan (who wouldn’t be fighting America) and Italy fight the USSR and the allies and the axis power eventually win a brutal war.

My competitiveness for USMA (West Point)?
I’m applying under a service connected nomination to West Point. I applied last year and was offered USMAPS, but enlisted instead. I haven’t started college yet, but will in January. I recieved two nominations last year. I’m a bit anxious about the whole process, and would like to get some feedback on my competitiveness…

Your problem is that your SAT scores and GPA are way low, that’ll probably be a huge problem for you. At best, you’d be a slightly above average candidate, and slightly above average doesn’t cut it when 35,000 people apply for 1,000 slots.

I applaud your extremely good scores and dedication. I can’t say you are a definite for entry, but I’d bet you would be high on the list of applicants. Something you’ve got to realize is, there are about 10,000 to 12,000 candidates with the same academic background and roughly 3000 candidates with the same JROTC background ( I guessed on that number honestly, but you’ve got to figure that I’m close).

You said you’re enlisted now? That will increase your chances, as will your increased age and coming college attendance. You could make it easily in my opinion, but you should talk to a West Point recruiting officer for more details.

Your competitiveness is probably not a lot different than last year. The issue is scholastic qualification with a 1740 SAT score and a 3.44 GPA, though the academies consider class rank based on weighted GPA rather than raw GPA. They also factor in the competitive level of the school based on the percentage of students going on to 4 year universities. A 1740 SAT is below the lower end of the Middle 50% range of candidates appointed directly to the academy. And unless your class rank is significantly higher than GPA indicates, it is also going to fall in that range. I’d assume that most candidates who had standardized test scores in the lower 25% had high class rank to compensate.

West Point offers the Prep School to candidates who are not quite scholastically qualified. Unless your current SAT scores or GPA are significantly higher than when you applied last year, nothing has changed in terms of scholastic qualification. Very few appointments come directly out of the enlisted ranks, and I read that the Navy now requires enlisted to have served two years active duty to be offered the Naval Academy Prep School. I don’t know if this change has also taken place for USMAPS. The Prep school is about 90% recruited athletes and candidates recruited for other purposes of the academy and 10% candidates who actually have served on active duty. A high school candidate offered the Prep School is enlisted in the Army Reserves and placed on active duty on entering the Prep School, which allows him to attend. Then if he completes the Prep School year he is given an appointment to West Point based on a Secretary of the Army(military) nomination if he has not received a nomination from any other source. You have an automatic Presidential nomination since your Dad is retired military, so that might be the nomination you would be appointed on to preserve Secretary of the Army nominations. If a prior civilian Prep school candidate does not complete the Prep School year his reserve contract is voided. West Point does not indicate how many Cadets were prior enlisted other than to say 25 were combat veterans, which I can take to mean 25 had prior enlisted service.

USNA clearly indicates that 15 Sailors and 4 Marines entered directly from the enlisted ranks, and 17 Sailors and 7 Marines from the Prep School. That is almost exactly 10% of the 242 appointments from the Prep School.

Here’s a list of some good locations

In Draynor Village, there are a big group of them behind the bank. This place is great xp, but really crowded.

I’m pretty sure there are some by Catherby just west of the bank, across the road from the candle shop near the yew trees. Same as above

Another, there’s a few good trees in Lumbridge, they’re north of the castle and west of the bridge. These are only good XP if you have acess to the Culinmanancer (how ever you spell it) chest from the Recipe for Disaster quest, you have to complete at least two parts to have acess to the Chest.

And if you get a game’s necklace from the Grand Exchange, you can teleport to the Barbarian Outpost. Go there and there are several willows. Cut them and when your full, go inside to the Deposit-box and insert them all.

Willow trees? Now there’s a good few… Since you’re a member i’ll bring up member methods only because the f2p methods will be swamped and overused.

If you’ve gotten at least to the prison section in rockin’ out then you’ll be able to do this:

Go to Rimmington south end in there you’ll find a Safe Deposit Box (don’t worry these items just go straight to your bank) but it is one way only. Nearby there’s 10 willow trees… This is probably the best place to cut them.

Next:

If questing isn’t your thing then Barbarian Outpost is your next best spot, The barbarian assault area has a bank deposit box for your willows.

Lastly, If you truely don’t care or wish to burn them straight away I’d personally recommend Edgeville willows.

IF I had to choose between the 2,I’d have to keep Tulo; Mainly because of position scarcity..
There’s only a handful of top notch SSs,and there’s a ton of outfielders; And more great outfielders come up each season..So it’ll be alot easier to replace Sizemore then Tulo.
Sizemore’s numbers suffered last year because he chose to play through injuries for most of the year;
But,even when they’re both healthy,their numbers should be comparable.Which would make me want to keep the SS over the outfielder.

Panic or schizophrenia?
I’m a 21 year old male. For the past few weeks i have been suffering from anxiety. I’ve been waking up at night with feelings that I’m going crazy and/or might hurt someone. I’m terribly afraid I’m becoming schizhophrenic. I don’t hear voices or have hallucinations, but I keep asking myself "what if i really do? and just don’t know it?" I even try to restrain myself from watching television and getting online for fear I might start having hallucinations. I have no family history of schizophrenia and even went to a therapist today who assured me i was fine. Anybody have the same feelings or suggestions?
Everyone just tells me it’s stupid to worry about. I’ve had some depression and anxiety problems when I was 16 but for some reason they just started coming back.

A phobia is an irrational fear of something. And that is what you are describing, an irrational fear of becoming schizophrenic. Phobias are a class of anxiety disorders. An anxiety disorder is much different from schizophrenia, which is a thought disorder. Schizophrenia does have a genetic component to it and the brain of someone with schizophrenia is actually different from someone without it. A person with schizophrenia who is symptomatic is unable to tell the difference between reality and their hallucinations. So if they hear someone on TV or the radio talking to them personally, they accept that it is real. Part and parcel of the psychiatric disorder is that they are not able to discern when they are symptomatic. And believe me, if you had ever seen anyone in the throes of full blown schizophrenia you would quickly realize that you aren’t even in the ballpark.

You could be having panic/anxiety attacks and some sort of phobia concerning your fear of becoming schizophrenic. I am bi-polar (diagnosed by my gp and my psychiatrist) so I am not just trying to get points like some -KIDS do. I think you should get your gp/family dr to refer you to a good psychiatrist. And first, let me say, do not be embarrassed or think you are crazy, etc. This could be caused by something minor or you may have to have medication for this, but that is what good psychiatrists are for. They can see things differently, things that may be important that you are not aware of. People who need help and do not go are the stupid ones. We know we are crazy, just kidding. You need to do this as you at 21 need to get this resolved so that you will be able to get on with your young life. During my worst time before I was diagnosed I had a lots of crazy feelings, like I was hearing noises and would wake up at night soaked from sweat from having crazy nightmares. I would lie down and my mind would be racing so and I would see like different designs and pictures in my mind just like something psychic just flying this way and that way and I had terrible panic/anxiety attacks. I have left my buggy in the grocery store and just left to get home to my "safe" place and you should know what this means. Thank God above and I mean that I was finally diagnosed as bi-polar with anxiety disorder. I am on a regimine of three medications and feel better than I have in ten years; but, we are all different and may not have the same symptoms or respond to the same meds. For me I have to watch my stress and DO NOT get overtired. My psychiatrist reminds me of this everytime I go mostly just for medicine checks. But , I am not ashamed and will tell anyone whom I think I may can help.
